Throughout the past year fire, rescue and EMS professionals from around the country have excelled in the leadership realm. Now it’s time to nominate the man or women you feel has remained committed and set an example. Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2010 Fire News Outstanding Leadership Award.

Firehouse Expo is in its eighth year partnering with Fire News to pay tribute to an outstanding industry leader. The award will be presented at Firehouse Expo, July 20 – 25, in Baltimore, MD. In addition to the prestigious award the winner and two guests will each receive a 3-day conference package providing entrance to training and education sessions, networking events, the opening ceremony and keynote presentation, plus an exhibit floor featuring over 400 exhibitors displaying the latest products, services and technologies in the industry.

Nominations must be received by Monday, May 24, 2010. The winner will be selected from a pool of qualified nominees and announced Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Cardiac Science Automated External Defibrillators (Powerheart, Cardiovive, CardioLife models): Recall

Audience: Emergency medical professionals, hospital risk managers

[Posted 02/09/2010]: Cardiac Science Corporation and FDA notified healthcare professionals and consumers of a recall because the automated external defibrillator (AED) may not be able to deliver therapy during a cardiac resuscitation attempt, which may lead to serious adverse events or death. These AEDs were manufactured in a way that makes them potentially susceptible to failure under certain conditions. Each of the approximately 12,200 devices affected in this recall can be confirmed at the Cardiac Science Web site, www.cardiacscience.com/AED195. The affected AEDs were manufactured or serviced between October 19, 2009 and January 15, 2010 and include the following models - Powerheart 9300A, 9300E, 9300P, 9390A, 9390E, CardioVive 92532 and CardioLife 9200G and 9231. Each affected AED should immediately be removed from service since it may not deliver the expected therapy.
